December 11: Christchurch Airport

This photo was taken last night when we arrived back into Christchurch but I didn’t have time to post because I was so exhausted that I fell asleep straight after I got home. The first image taken on my camera this trip (the phone did come in handy though) and I grabbed this shot on my way to the car of the outside of the recently renovated Christchurch Airport which is looking pretty flash! And this is the (slightly late) shot for day 343 🙂

November 15: Line of fire

I was sitting inside eating dinner tonight after I got home from training when I saw flashes coming from outside. I couldn’t figure out what it was so I got up and looked out the window to see an awesome sunset and our neighbours standing on their deck taking photos of it (with their flash on for some reason – but it worked out OK for me as I wouldn’t have seen the sunset without it) so I grabbed the camera, rested it on the fence then took  shots for HDR. It was pretty cool because it looked like the horizon was on fire and reflecting on the clouds so I like the shot for day 317 🙂

November 12: Flying balls

We’ve got my brother staying for the weekend while the EQC is in working on their house and as always, he was keen when I needed a hand for a photo. He brought Brylee an inflatable pool complete with small coloured plastic balls for her birthday last weekend and even though it’s hers, I think we’ve been having more fun with it than her. Anything can turn into a competition with us and the latest is trying to throw these balls through the little opening on the top from a distance. The things that entertain us… Anyway, after many attempts at getting our timing right between throwing and balls and taking the photo, this is our effort for day 314 🙂

November 5: Guy Fawkes

It’s Guy Fawkes!! It’s also Brylee’s first birthday tomorrow and I remember sitting in the hospital exactly one year ago thinking that it would be cool if she was born on November 5 so that she would have fireworks to celebrate her birthday every year. She didn’t arrive until the next morning so now the fireworks are just the day before in anticipation of her birthday… It’s been a pretty busy day with Mel throwing up last night and not well today then us having so much work to do today before the big birthday tomorrow! Ready for bed now but looking forward to tomorrow 🙂 The Waikuku Volunteer Fire Brigade organises an event every year where locals take their fireworks down to them during the day and they set them all off in a display for everyone. A pretty cool community event so I went down to have a look and of course took the camera. I took a few shots but here are a two for day 307!

October 29: Mall by night

We called past a mall tonight after it was closed so I thought it would be a good opportunity to take some photos without all the people there. I took a few shots but it’s 11:50pm so I’m only uploading one (maybe some more to follow tomorrow if I have time) but this is my image for day 300! Only 65 days to go! 😀

October 28: Bright star

I was looking around in Brylee’s toybox for something interesting to shoot when I saw this sparkly-star-wand-thing and took it out to see what I could do with it… I thought it might look good with a light behind it, so held it up in one hand with the camera in the other and positioned it so the ceiling light was directly behind. This was the second shot and looked sort of like what I had imagined in my head so here is the image from my 299th day of this project!
