Abandoned farmhouse

This is an old house in Waikuku on State Highway 1 that I drive past most days on my way to work. I’ve been meaning to stop and take photos for ages and almost didn’t (I even slowed down, decided not to and kept driving, and then pulled over a did a U-turn a bit down the road) but fought the urge to keep driving and grabbed a few photos.

My wife hates driving with me when I’ve got my camera close because I always want to stop, and while I do feel sorry for all partners of people who like to take photos, it’s always worth stopping! So these photos are dedicated to the frustrated partners who have to sit and wait for photos to be taken…

December 18: Yellow lily

Apparently I can’t count! Yesterday was day 359 so logic would follow that today would be day 360 but that would mean that it would only be day 362 on December 31 when it should actually be 362 today seeing as how there are 365 days in the year. Brownie points for whoever can trawl back and find the day(s) that I miscounted!!

Anyway, my parents are house-sitting on a lifestyle block over Christmas and the retired couple that own the house clearly have a lot of time on their hands to spend in the garden. There are about 4 or 5 different colours of lily’s in one of their gardens alone and I had a wander around with my camera when we were out there today. I really like this shot because of the  vivid yellow and black colours with the bright pink in the centre so chose it as the image for today.

December 27: Kiwi summer

Nothing symbolises a Kiwi Christmas and summer more than a pohutukawa flower. It’s been another stunning summer day and still enjoying the long sunny days on holiday. I finished the side path at our house today and it looks awesome with the lime chip and I’m very happy with how it turned out 🙂 We then lazed around in the sun followed by home-made pizza and cold beer on the deck. A great finish to a great day 359 🙂

December 18: Walk in the park

It was a nice afternoon and we were bored so decided to go for a walk down to the park. Naturally, I took my camera and got some photos of Brylee playing around on the playground and in a big tree stump. Brylee had an awesome time and even went down the big tube-slide by herself for the first time with Mel sliding her down and me catching her at the bottom. She didn’t quite know what to think when she first started sliding but then absolutely loved it and couldn’t get enough until we eventually decided to move on. Great to discover something new that she enjoys doing though 🙂 Another awesome day with the whanau on day 350!

October 2: Big digger

We went for a walk today and saw this digger so we came back then I grabbed the camera, found a bike lying around and went for a wee ride back down. I kinda like old machinery like this because the worn, rusty steel looks pretty cool in HDR… An early post for day 273 but I’ve got the All Blacks, Junior Warriors and Warriors Grand Final to watch!! What a day!

September 28: The wee girls

Brylee and her cousin Allie (1 year older) both have matching All Blacks t-shirts so Mel and Bec thought it would be a good idea for them dress matching and get some photos taken. Of course I was happy to oblige so we wandered around taking photos of them playing… Enjoy 🙂

Day 269 was another stunner and happy to have some nice photos of the girls 🙂
