I was talking to Mel tonight when I noticed how awesome her eyes looked in the light. She has pretty cool eyes (which she’s luckily passed on to Brylee) so I grabbed my camera and took some shots in the natural light from the window you can see in the reflection. Check out the end result after de-saturating everything but the iris…
Apparently I can’t count! Yesterday was day 359 so logic would follow that today would be day 360 but that would mean that it would only be day 362 on December 31 when it should actually be 362 today seeing as how there are 365 days in the year. Brownie points for whoever can trawl back and find the day(s) that I miscounted!!
Anyway, my parents are house-sitting on a lifestyle block over Christmas and the retired couple that own the house clearly have a lot of time on their hands to spend in the garden. There are about 4 or 5 different colours of lily’s in one of their gardens alone and I had a wander around with my camera when we were out there today. I really like this shot because of the vivid yellow and black colours with the bright pink in the centre so chose it as the image for today.
It’s Guy Fawkes!! It’s also Brylee’s first birthday tomorrow and I remember sitting in the hospital exactly one year ago thinking that it would be cool if she was born on November 5 so that she would have fireworks to celebrate her birthday every year. She didn’t arrive until the next morning so now the fireworks are just the day before in anticipation of her birthday… It’s been a pretty busy day with Mel throwing up last night and not well today then us having so much work to do today before the big birthday tomorrow! Ready for bed now but looking forward to tomorrow 🙂 The Waikuku Volunteer Fire Brigade organises an event every year where locals take their fireworks down to them during the day and they set them all off in a display for everyone. A pretty cool community event so I went down to have a look and of course took the camera. I took a few shots but here are a two for day 307!
I was looking around in Brylee’s toybox for something interesting to shoot when I saw this sparkly-star-wand-thing and took it out to see what I could do with it… I thought it might look good with a light behind it, so held it up in one hand with the camera in the other and positioned it so the ceiling light was directly behind. This was the second shot and looked sort of like what I had imagined in my head so here is the image from my 299th day of this project!
Today is the first day of spring and I’m pretty excited! Not really a huge fan of the cold so it’s been awesome to see a few more sunny days and a bit more light in the morning 🙂 We went for a little walk today and these flowers were growing alongside the footpath between our house and the General Store. They reminded me of the summer sun that is to come so a fitting shot for day 242 🙂
I found this little plant thing growing beside our driveway and liked the colours so popped the flash because it was getting dim and took a few photos. I like the colours, the sparkle of the water droplets in the flash and the little bud growing in the middle so I’m happy. Day 230 done – only 125 days to go!!
I got new boots on the weekend and pretty stoked with them… My big bro bought them for me as an early birthday present and a pretty sweet present because mine broke at the end of last season so I didn’t have any to wear this summer. Anyway, back to the photo… I saw them all bright and shiny in the box and decided to make them the photo for today as they will never be this clean once I start using them! So that’s it for day 228 and thanks Mikey for the new boots!
This house has a rather large chandelier above the dining table and I thought it might look good in a photo. It took ages to get the photos centered as I had to sit the camera on the table below and I wasn’t able to use the viewfinder. I took a photo, checked it, replaced the camera in a slightly different position then repeated until I was happy with the result. I know I could have just cropped it after but wanted to make sure it was exactly in the middle so the lighting and shadows were consistent. Anyway, enough typing so I’m off to bed! Day 195 complete – closing on 200 posts! 🙂
I’ve driven past the bakery so many times at night and always thought it could look good in a photo but just never got around to it. But tonight I went out and threw my camera and tripod in the back just in case I had time on my way home – and I did! I really like the glass above the door and the reflection of the interior lights on it… Pretty happy with this effort for day 193 🙂
