October 16: Pink flowers

What a night!!! I thought yesterday was a good day but watching the All Blacks win their Rugby World Cup semi final against the Wallabies was so satisfying that I think it’s going to be hard to top – apart from maybe a sneaky wee grand final win next week! We kicked off the night watching the Kiwi’s getting punished by the Kangaroo’s but then it all turned around when the All Black’s got some back by beating the Wallabies 20-6 and booking their place for the final next week. We had a few people over and enjoyed some very subdued cheering so we didn’t wake Brylee but smiles all round as people were leaving and a great day 287 😀 Oh and here’s the photo from today…

September 27: All Blacks Supporter

This is wee Brylee in her t-shirt that my mate bought for her first World Cup (shot Jimbo!). I tried to take some photos of her wearing it the other day but just as I picked up the camera she spewed up all over it so it was back to the wash before a second try! Second time lucky today though and a beautiful day so she was happy to play on the grass while I took photos of her… I’m enjoying the 2011 Rugby World Cup even if she has no idea what’s going on and like it or not she is now officially an All Blacks Supporter! Day 268 was beautiful and warm – bring on summer!

September 9: New Zealand

Woo hoo, it’s finally here! Today is the start of the 2011 Rugby World Cup and I’m sitting here watching the All Blacks playing Tonga in the opening game as I write this post. The buzz has been building in New Zealand for the last week and flags flying everywhere so I thought this would be a fitting shot for today. It’s been cool to see all the supporters from around the world in Christchurch over the past few days and a reminder of how many Pacific Islanders we have living in New Zealand judging by the number of Samoan and Tongan flags around! Tonga is my adopted second team for the tournament so a bit of a clash to start but really hoping that they will perform well over the next few weeks. Anyway, too much writing, not enough watching!! Much rugby in store and a great start on day 250! 🙂

August 31: Rugby World Cup 2011

Only 8 days until the start of the RWC 2011 and starting to get pretty exciting! The teams have been arriving in New Zealand today and even people who don’t normally like rugby are getting a bit excited about the event. An example of excessive merchandise in the  build-up to the RWC are these Pump bottles which have individual numbered All Black’s jerseys on them. I only bought it because it was the cheapest but it’s turned out to be pretty handy as the numbers let you tell the difference between other people’s bottles and your own…

Not a great day though as I got through teaching the first two periods then vomited so headed home and have been in bed or on the couch all day! This bottle was close to my mattress on the floor so it was the pick of the day as I haven’t have to move off my mattress so far! Day 241 done 🙂
